Our Search For a New Central Warehouse:

For roughly the last two years the Board of Directors at Clark County Food Bank has been actively pursuing a plan to construct a new central warehouse and distribution facility to replace the dilapidated and very small building which currently houses our Stop Hunger Warehouse.

With the help of a Steering Committee made up of CCFB board directors and members of our community with significant knowledge and experience related to commercial properties we have looked at and considered the merits of various sites including vacant parcels for new construction and existing structures that could be redesigned to suit our plans and anticipated needs.

As a result of this search CCFB signed an Option Agreement on June 21st for the purchase of 2.09 acres at the Cold Creek Industrial Park in Hazel Dell. The property is located on the corner of 47th Ave. and 68th Dr. just north of Minnehaha/63rd St. This agreement provides 90 days for us to submit necessary environmental reviews and other documentation, obtain a required appraisal of the property value and complete a number of tasks related to due diligence with the intent of finalizing a purchase and sales contract prior to the end of the option period. In the meantime the bidding process for selection of a general contractor has been initiated. Once determined the firm chosen will help us complete the final building design as well as construct our new distribution center.

We are excited to have made this major step toward construction of a new facility to better serve the hunger relief and food insecurity issues that continue to grow in Clark County. Completion of this project will not just allow us to adequately meet current demands but will also provide ample space for development of increased capabilities to meet expanding program needs in the future.
